New Sponsor (25.3.08)

I would like to thank the Peacock public house in Kirton for sponsoring me this week. Speedway is so expensive and every little bit of sponsorship helps. The Peacock is a family pub and does good food as well so it is well worth popping in and having a look when passing through Kirton.

Can I also thank the Naylor family and CW Products for the environmental mat.

Thanks again.

Press Call (9.3.08)

Matty attended the Kings Lynn Money Centre Stars press day today and posed with the rest of the stars team. Matt said " It was cold and wet so we could not get on track but it was good to meet the new members of the side and get together with the lads I already know. I am looking forward to our first match and hopefully a good season for the Stars and myself.

Practise Session (9.2.08)

Matt attended a practice day today with Simon Lambert, Chris Mills and Olli Rayson at the Norfolk arena. "It was a good day and I got a few laps in. I would of done more but I got tired towards the end and we decided to end the day on a good note rather than risking me falling off or something because I was tired."

Matt Makes Comeback (8.2.08)

Saturday 2nd February was a red letter day for Matt, a day he had been waiting for since the traumatic events of the 9th July.

Saturday saw Matt re-united with his speedway bike at King's Lynn where he took to the track on half a dozen occasions. Things went reasonably well, so well in fact he also rode at Scunthorpe the very next day

Good to see you back Matt.

Update from Matty (17.1.08)

Sadly I was not able to make my comeback on the 13th of January due to a few small problems with the leg. However I am now starting to train to get the strength back into the leg and I hope to be fit in time for the Kings Lynn press and practice day on Friday March the 7th.

Clearly this is disappointing but I am determined to come back fitter and stronger than before if possible.

On a better note I would like to thank Motsons of Peterborough for sponsoring me this season with some new equipment. I am very grateful to all my sponsors and everything helps.

Update from Matty (4.1.08)

Hi All

I had some great news at the hospital today. I saw the plastic surgeon and he has said I can now get back on my bike. I know I have to take it easy for a while but it is a great boost for me and it means I will be able to achieve the first of my Goals that I set myself after the accident.

I am hoping to have at least a go on the bike on Sun 13th January if all goes well over the next week or so.

I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone who has wished me well and also a big thank you to Mum and Dad, my sponsors, Steve Owens and Wayne Dunworth who have all helped me over the last 6 months.

Update from Matty (4.12.07)

Last night (3rd) December Matty attended the Kings Lynn Money Centre Stars Fans Forum where Buster Chapman confirmed he will be mascot for 2008. Buster said how pleased he was that Matty would be back on a bike and added he was looking forward to seeing him back on a bike.

Kings Lynn announced 4 signings for 2008 with Kev Doolan, Tom Topinka Simon Lambert and Jon Oliver. Matty said:

"I am hoping to be back on a bike on January 13th at Kings Lynn if all goes well. So only another 5 weeks or so. I can't wait !"

Update from Matty (13.11.07)

Hi Everyone

Xmas came early for me today as I went to the Hospital for a check up and x-ray on my leg. The result was great the bone looks really good and I was able to have the 5 rods taken out of my leg.

It has left me with 5 holes ! but they will soon heal. The doctor has told me to look after it for the next 6 weeks but as long as the plastic surgery continues to progress I should be back on a bike by February of next year.

If that was not good enough, Jonathon Chapman has confirmed I will be mascot again for the Kings Lynn Money Centre Stars again in 2008. That is a huge bonus for me and gives me even more encouragement to get fit and be a better speedway rider by March of next year than I was before my accident.

Update (22.9.07)

Hi All

Last week I had the screws taken out of my ankle. The op went well and I now have some movement back in the ankle already. The rods in my leg have to stay in a while longer yet though and hopefully they will come out late November or December.

Overall things are looking up, I can't put any weight on the leg yet but I can get around quite well in the wheel chair so that is not to bad.

The skin graft is coming along well, I still have to go once a week to Leicester to have it re-dressed etc but that is not too bad although a fair trek every week. If all keeps going well then hopefully that will also show enough improvement before Xmas to mean I do not have to keep going on a regular basis.

I hope to attend my first speedway meeting since the accident this Sunday at Scunthorpe for the David Nix Memorial meeting. Next Wednesday I will hopefully at last get back to Kings Lynn and at least support the lads even if I cannot ride my bike yet!

On that subject I would like to thank my sponsors who have been great and most are sticking with me next year when I will be back as Kings Lynn mascot once again if all goes well.

Thanks again

Thank You (3.8.07)
Hello Everyone

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has wished Matty well or sent a card.

Matty returned home yesterday and although he still has a long way to go including a couple of operations he is now on the road to recovery. We have been told the external rods will stay in for about another 2 months, after which he will have a normal cast on.

Matty still has to go once a week to Leicester hospital to check on the skin grafts etc and that is still a cause for concern for the next couple of months but fingers crossed!

Matty hopes to get to some speedway before the year is out although right now we have been advised to stay away because the risk of infection in the leg is still too risky.

Once again thanks to everyone

Matty Latest (1.8.07)
Matty is hopeful of a return to his Boston home today (Wednesday). Things are progressing well with the injury and he is able to be out of bed although obviously not much walking right now.

He will still need intensive physio and plenty of hospital visits in the coming weeks/months but he will be delighted to be back at home after his stay in the Midlands.

Further Update (21.7.07)
As you are aware Matty had an operation on Tuesday to move some muscle from his back (under his arm) into his leg complete with a vein and also some skin was taken from his other leg to graft onto his damaged leg.

The following 48 were said to be crucial and a few days later and all seems to be progressing how it should and there is a strong pulse running through the vein. Matty is now off the morphine and is drinking fluids.

The physio went to see him yesterday (Friday) and showed Matty how to bend his knee and told him the sooner he got mobile and out of bed the sooner he could get back to Boston.

With this in mind he was very keen to get out of bed and with the help of the nurses he managed to get into a chair and sit with his leg raised for a short time.

He is due to be reviewed again on Monday when a further decision will be made as to whether he can return to Boston mid week. We will all keep our fingers crossed that this is the case.

Another Update (18.7.07)
Matty underwent another operation at Leicester hospital yesterday morning to move flesh from another part of his body to plug a hole in his leg. The seven and a half hour operation went well although the next 48 hours will be crucial to see if it is fully successful.

Matty has been in ICU following the lengthy operation but remains in good spirits. If all goes well Matty is likely to have to stay in Leicester for about another 7-10 days before he can be transferred back to a local hospital.

More updates will follow when I have them.

Update on Matty (11.7.07)
I am sorry to report that Matty was involved in an accident on Monday afternoon as he got off a bus.

He was hit by a car and has sustained some nasty injuries including a leg broken in six places. He has undergone two  operations to date to pin some of the broken bones and will need further surgery to correct the breaks. There is also a nasty wound which requires more attention and Matty is due to have more consultations in the next couple of days to find out the full extent and may need to be transferred to a hospital in Leicester which specializes in the type of injuries he has.

I'm sure we all wish him well for his recovery and his family thank everyone that has contacted them for updates on Matty's condition. Matty is determined to back on his speedway bike as soon as possible!

As I receive any further information I will post it on this website.

Matty Gets Teng Help (11.4.07)
Matty Allitt today picked up a much needed new sponsor in the shape of world class tool company Teng Tools.

Teng who have so often in the past helped riders such as Hans Andersen, Tom Topinka and Scott Nicholls have kindly agreed a sponsorship package that will see Matty have the best in the way of back up for his tool needs.

Matty said " We have some tools but we are always looking round for the ones we need on race night. With the help of Teng Tools we will now be able to have all our tools in a properly organised tool box like all the top riders enjoy.

I am so grateful to Teng and all my sponsors who have kindly helped me this season and look forward to repaying them on track as the season goes on".

Matty Update (10.4.07)
Matt will take to the track, after a week off as Kings Lynn mascot, this Wednesday as the Kings Lynn Money Centre Stars take on Stoke.

Matt will also be in action on Friday night making a second half appearance after Boston -v- Stoke in the Conference League at the Norfolk Arena, and also the next day in a Norfolk Arena Powerslide Training School.

Please check back real soon for details and pictures of what happened!

Matty Rides Out Into The Stars (12.3.07)
Friday night was a night which will long be remembered by Matty as he took to the track with the treble winning Kings Lynn Money Centre Stars.

Matty had 3 outings along with all this years team. " Overall it went quite well other than the fact that in all the excitement I forgot to put my cut out on my wrist in my first ride !"

Saturday saw Matty take to the track again in a Powerslide school where he put the Jawa 250 through it's paces. Matty seems more confident after several outings at the small Scunthorpe track and seems to be making steady progress on all fronts.

The next date in the diary is this Friday as the Stars take on an Ashley Jones select in what is sure to be an emotional night for all concerned.

Matty Gears Up For Press and Practice (7.3.07)
Only 2 more days remain until I start my duties as the Kings Lynn Money Centre Stars Mascot. Friday at 7pm is the official start time for all this years Stars to take to the track and I cannot wait.

Over the last few weeks I have had practice sessions at Scunthorpe but I cannot wait to get back to the Norfolk Arena. I also have a Powerslide School the next day which will help me no end.

This season Kings Lynn have helped me with the Powerslide days and it should help me as I try and improve.

Matty Update (17.2.07)
Just got back from Scunthorpe where most people told me I was going the best I have been since starting. I went out first and the track was wet but I loved that even if it does mean the bike will need hours spent on it cleaning it !

One highlight for me though was meeting and having my picture taken with World champion Jason Crump. Jason was superb all day and helped a few riders with different things. All in all a great day.

Practise Frenzy (29.1.07)
Matty will now be practising his speedway every Saturday at Scunthorpe until the start of the season.

He will also be in attendance at Kings Lynn's Press & Practise day on Saturday 10th March.
